Since it is K series the Pentax-m 28mm 2.8 wasn't there yet, Pentax had the 28/3.5 (slower and 20% heavier) and 28/2 (Hollywood zeiss copy and very expensive). So I guess it was made for the demand of a brighter and lighter alternative. More for street than landscape. believe it was mainly sold in Japan so relatively unknown in the west. From the few test shots I made I can tell it is very sharp and nice rendering. A very different design from the 28/3.5

Yes, that makes sense.
The two K lenses, 28/3.5 and 30/2.8 are both exceptional

couple fun finds today, a Steinheil Munchen Culminar 135mm/F4.5 in M39 with original leather case and caps, and a Kiron 28-85mm f/2.8-3.8 that was apparently beat out by Komine to be the famed Vivitar Series 1 28-90mm, but seems to still be a good lens in its own right.
i'd hoped to take pictures of each lens using the other lens, but neither focuses close enough to work with my tiny pop-up lightbox, going to have to get a bigger lightbox for bigger lenses |

It seems there are two different versions of the FL 1.4/50mm, one with six lenses, the other with seven. I recently got the latter, but some Canon leaflets i have indicate that there was an earlier six lens variant, too.
Can you post an image of your lens? Just to see whether it's the same lens as I have, or another one ...

From what I can gather the latter version is the same optically as the early FD (SSC) versions. Interestingly, this website shows 3 versions of FL 50/1.4, a 6-4, a 6-5 and a 7-5 version. Could be a mistake, who knows? https://lens-db.com/canon-fl-50mm-f14-ii-1968/

Not sure if the quoted length is with or without the lens shade, but the SMC Pentax "K" 135--600mm is 582mm (22.9 inches). But hey, size isn't everything...
