important addition to my collection of Panagor primes (Project panagor).

Nice. I think I am close to be done with Panagor collection. This lens, + 28mm/2 + 28mm/2.5 + 35mm/2, probably will look for the 55mm/2.8 or 200mm/3.5, or the 28mm/2.8.

I started a list on the Flickr Panagor Group. Lens+ manufacturer.
21mm/4
24mm/2.5
28mm/2.0(Kino precision/Kiron)
28mm/2.5 (Kino precision/Kiron)
28mm/2.8 (Komine I think)
35mm/2.0
55mm/2.8 macro (Kino precision/Kiron)
55mm/3.0 macro
90mm/2.8 macro (Komine)
135mm/2.8
200mm/3.5 (Mamiya/Sekor has a similar looking one)

do you know of any more? Or manufacturer info?

The Mamiya Sekor SX 200mm 3.5 was also adopted in the QBM Rolleinar MC + Voigtländer ranges. And no reference to Tokina or Kiron made in either Mamiya or Rollei research pages for that lens. So I guess genuine Mamiya made.

The Panagor has however 5 elements in 4 groups (allphoto), where the M-S and Rollei have 4/4 . No other SLR Mamiya-Sekor 200mm 3.5/4/4.5 has a 5/4 scheme, only 4/4 and 5/5.

allphoto is right. There is a youtube video of a guy going through a Panagor Booklet (pause at 0.17) It says 5/4. I have an earlier version of the 200mm with amber markings instead of red that focusses to 2.5m instead of 1.8 like the Mamiya, (so that will have to be mended at some point) but it may be 4 element.

I found his nearly pristine Praktica FX3 in the waste bin of a local photo dealer today, together with its Schneider Xenar 2.8/50mm normal lens and the Carl Zeiss Jena Triotar 4/135mm. Usually i'm not collecting German cameras, but i would have been a pity if these things would have gone to the scrap metal ...

This Triotar (actually my third one) is not made from aluminum as my other two samples. While the two samples I already had are quite lightweight at 267 and 271 g, respectively, this one is made from another alloy (chromium-plated brass??). It weighs a hefty 455 g! Strange enough, one alu and the brass (?) one have nearly identical S/N (3370897 and 3370533), while the second alu sample has S/N 3116398.

The Schneider Xenar 2.8/50mm is a beautiful small classic, but at least my sample can't compete with the Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar 2.8/50mm from the same time.

It is always good to see quality items rescued and repurposed.
Is there any chance that the Xenar is the fabled five element super xenar by chance.
Cheers
Tom

Sure! And it's always fun to have a look at the waste bin ... you never know what's in there Wink

No. I can see only four light reflexes in front of the aperture; the Super Xenar should have six ...

Thanks for the list. I was aware there is a 21mm/4 for Panagor. Panagor is rare in US so it is very hard for me to collect them all. My 35mm/2 is from a guy locally but I guess he bought the lens from Europe. It is kind of weird that Panagor doesn't have the Kiron 24mm/2.

I have since edited it a bit. The more I look at the 200mm the more I think it was made by Komine as well. The DOF scale looks very much like the ones used on the Komine 55 and 90mm macro's. It seems Komine was an important Panagor supplier. I makes me think the 135mm is Komine as well.

I guess that even in the 1950's DDR some specific raw metal tubes/rods were not always available and by that switches in production more common. Central Planning had its limitations to say it mildly.

For €6 I just bid for this because I had to go away and didn't want to come home to see it gone for a ridiculously low price. actually paid €5 less than my auto-bid. Getting exakta to m42 ring for it will cost me more.

Maybe. But it seems there simply were two slightly different designs, the alu and the brass/chrome one. The alu design has smaller screws, and the brass/chrome one has some additional screws ...

I hope you are as nicely surprised as I was at the rendering from this little lens. Via my old Fuji XE-1 at least, the images respond very well to a touch of dehaze in pp. It gives a look I like. I acquired mine the same way you have, attached to an EXA 1, but for 3 times what you paid. Still very little in the scheme of things.

Found a nice looking Petri CC Auto 55mm 1.4 (Petri bayonet on a FT-II body).
Have to search for a adapter to use the lens on my Nex. Or tinker somewhat.

I have the same camera and lens plus the Jupiter 8M and 11. All of them are usually
available at the camera shops in Budapest. An enjoyable camera and lens to use.

Today I have bought my 4th planar hft 50/1,8

The first three present damaged mechanism of aperture.

I hope the newer work well.

It's really an optically very good perfomer lens.
