It shoots great though.
The aperture mechanism and focus are in great shape, and I don't worry about scratching it up carrying it around out in the hills and forests. It's quickly become a favorite. |

I am curious if the lens is much better then my old MC lens from 1973 (I still have). |
Yep, it is. Surprising performer on 24 MP FF! Even wide open and in the infinity range, the the extreme corners of the lens are tack sharp.
No CAs visible (in this respect the MD 4/100 Macro is better than the MD 2.5/100, the MC/MD 3.5/100 Macro and the AF 2/100mm).

No but seriously looking forward to discovering it all over again on the 5D. I didn't really like it on the K5, and preferred the 24mm for my casual meandering that has become my chosen photography pursuit. On the the 5D, 24mm feels ridiculous and I had that familiar comfortable feeling whilst looking at 28mm. Well see how long the love affair lasts this time.. |

The lens is in very nice condition (although not mint), and it is clearly better than my nFD 2/28mm.
Here shown together with a late FD 2/35mm and a F-1 i already had before:

Nice find. That one is on my wish list as well. (The 30 for a bargain ) _________________ pentaxian |

With a Yashica TL Electro X. The camera looks great, but is dead, I fear.
It had a 6V battery instead of 2.7V, that might have killed the circuits. |

Bags of snot Batman!
That's crook.
What mounts don't hit the mirror on a 5D?
Sounds like you need a mirrorless camera as a second body. Fuji XE's can be cheap

Other than that the Pentina arrived and it is pure #DDRporn
Only had time to have a check of it and it appears to be in good condition mechanically, though getting used to the on body aperture/Shutter speed control might be an experience...
Optics on the Tessar are nice and clean and the design is similar to the one Enna used on their interchange base range of exakta lenses.
Light meter appears to be working but I'll have to check that against a digital beforehand though, the built in exposure calculator is simplicity itself
The rangefinder is really nice (as a glasses wearer I can actually see it fully for once..) and the viewfinder ample. Ergonomically it's space age East German. Putting film in will again be an experience... |

I'm biased because I have one too.
Interestingly, it's almost exactly the same lens as the 55mm Auto Mamiya/Sekor f/1.8. Only the rear element mounting is a little different. I know because I took them apart consecutively, not realizing how similar they are.
They're excellent lenses - among the best old 55 1.8s I've tried. |

I've noticed this one for quite a while but didn't pull the trigger. Instead, I grabbed a CPC 28-50mm which I guess is made by Cosina. |
