The lens arrived with a defektive aperture: the ring turns, but the blades don't close until you press the metal lever on the side of the barrel.
This is not normal as the auto mechanism does not work even on the Pentacon 6.
The lens that I received, is not the one portrayed in the auction pictures. It has a different serial number.
I wrote to the seller to refer about this and about the aperture, and he replied this:
| Quote: |
Ich habe bilder von einem ähnlichen objektiv eingestellt, der einem ähnlich aussehen.
Das objektiv habe 5jahre nicht benutzt, und da wahr in Ordnung. |
I'm not sure to understand exaclty, because the online translators are not able to translate this sentence in a correct meaningful English.
(he used English language, until this email)
I seem to understand that he says that the lens was ok when he sent it?
Can anyone confirm?
So, is he basically implying that I am a liar?

Hello Orio,
this is the translation from german to english.
"The pictures are from a similar lens. The lens was not used 5 years. Before 5 years it was correct."
Best regards

Firstly save a copy of the auction photos before he deletes them so you've got evidence.
If you paid by paypal then it might be worth doing a claim through them.
As to translation I'll let a native speaker translate. _________________ Richard

I would ask for a refund and open a claim through paypal. Otherwise leave a negative feedback with a strong comment and forget. Too much trouble for this amount of money otherwise. More luck next time.
The reason why the online translators couldn't translate this: it's german, but not from a native speaker. It's full of errors in grammar and spelling - like my english

I paid with bank trasnfert. The seller did not accept the Paypal.
So he says that 5 years ago the lens was ok... really a stupid remark.
The problem is, if I send the lens back, I will spend more in shipping than I did for the lens itself. So return does not make sense.
I would hate to ruin my 100% feedback with a revenge feedback for a 13 Euros lens. At the same time, it makes me angry that this cheater is not punished.
Not easy decision. _________________ Orio, Administrator

Anyway you are right. Better luck next time. I guess I will have to forget about this one. It seems that I can not have a good Volna-3 copy.

Orio; I've managed to mimic this same fault on my Volna-3 by keeping the pin on the end face depressed, so it might just be the pin is stuck down internally. _________________ Dave - Moderator
