Well, frustrations apart, I guess this thread makes as much sense as it's bigger brother!

I'll start then.

This week I lost on eBay a boxed M42 (never seen a minter piece) Sonnar that I was going to get for 15 (+ shipping), why you ask? Because the seller did not set the shipping value for my country and I could not activate the 'Buy Now'.. a minutes later a lucky bastard took it..

Crying or Very sad

I missed a box set of Kiev 88 stuff. Complete camera and all the typical accessories.
BUT there was something that didn't quite belong. It was very distinctly a Hasselblad Ektar.
Maybe someone had bought it thinking that it could fit the Kiev (since the mounts are similar) but of course it can't.

Set sold for $100.
The ektar would have been great for re-sale since it's a bit of a rarity and a collectors item. Probably could have gotten 5x that.

I missed it because, well, I'm stupid and forgot to set an alarm for the auctions end.

I passed on a mint EOS 5d Mk II for $1800.00 US last night. Not so sure that was a deal. The one I let get away about 15 years ago was a Miranda branded 400mm that separated into two parts to stow in it's case. The old guy selling it was the original owner and probably bought it in 1960 or thereabouts.

None that I know of on the great auction site, but perhaps a 4 1/4" Cooke Ser. VIIb in Compur for $100 at a camera show. I was thinking "can I use it?," not "can I sell it for lots more?"

About the great auction site. I snipe, tell the sniping engine how much the item is worth to me. I don't try to be cute and beat the second highest bidder by the bid increment. If someone wants the item more than I do, good for them, they're welcome to it.

I used to arbitrage between eBay and eBay. Buy low here/now, sell higher there/later. Don't bother now, too much like work ...

I also used to arbitrage between camera shows and eBay. I slightly regret not hazarding $200 on an 76/0.87 Super Farron in LTM at a camera show, but at the time really wasn't sure there was much demand. Nowadays there are few shows, and fewer steals at them.

Yes, I only wanted it to refubish, try a couple of times then sell.

Maryport is about 45 miles from me up the coast so i would have driven up to get it then sent it to Charles Kalocsay in Budapest to fully refurbish because he does amazing work.

Leica R 90 AA. Pristine condition, some internal dust and didn't want to pay for a CLA. Passed on it for $2500.

Damned fool.

S-M-C Takumar 1.8 85 wich was offered as a "wide-angle TakuNar".

I bid 50 euros, got restless and phoned half an hour later and it was sold. For 60 euros. I tried to explain to the man that i would have gone higher but he was just glad to be rid of it. Shame.

The one that springs to my mind: a Kinoptik 150mm 2.5 apo for 60 euro. I saw a french ad listed only 30 minutes earlier, rang to ask about in my best (well not too great) French, only to hear it had just been sold. Offering more didn't help unfortunately..

Not too much till date... Nothing I *really* regret. Hopefully it will stay that way.
Only thing that comes to mind is Nex-5+Flash for 150.
