If this is what I think it is*, 40 + shipping probably qualifies as a bargain...

EDIT:

I'm curious how the 50/1.2 will compare to my 58/1.2 and 50/1.4 (both MC-X), I think these three deserve a good shootout(like this, a bokeh comparison seems in order too).

*Minolta MD 50/1.2 (MDII version) and Soligor C/D 135/2.0 (made by Tokina)

Soligor 85mm-205mm is my biggest bargain lens for sure. Smile Don't drop it on your foot unless you are wearing steel toe shoes. Smile

What lens do you think it could be?

After a bit of research, I'm quite sure it's these two.

I have no intention of keeping the Soligor (I already had one, didn't like it) but I'm quite eager to try the 50/1.2.
The only complaint I have about my MC58/1.2 is that it isn't well balanced on my A7. My MC50/1.4 is a better fit on that front and the MD50/1.2's size and weight are practically identical to the MC50/1.4 (more glass, less brass).

Ah, a bargain deal either way then. Wink

After a two-month dry spell, I finally found a couple of goodies. My first Zeiss thrift store finds.

01) Yashica T4 35mm film camera, $.67 (67 cents)
02) Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar 50mm f3.5, 14-blade aperture, M42 mount, $8.69

The T4 came with a working battery and everything appears to work. I haven't put any film through it. The Zeiss lens is from a Praktica camera (not shown, model unknown, I don't think the camera body works). The lens is in good condition, but while cleaning it I noticed that there is some fungus behind the front element.

Matt

Good catch, I hope you don't start molesting models now...

Minolta MD 50/1.2, Soligor C/D 135/2, Pentax "K" 28/3.5

The Minolta & Soligor came inside an old camera case, full of disintegrating foam. Took me an hour per lens to get rid of all that [expletive deleted]... still worth it for 55.

The Pentax wasn't a real bargain (60 incl. shipping), I just really wanted that one.

I'm sure loving the size right now, it feels more balanced with my A7 than the MC58/1.2.

It seems to have a few minor issues though.
The focus ring makes a faint grinding noise, there are a few small smudges on one of the elements in the front group (not fungus) and the aperture sometimes doesn't close right (not a big deal, a few turns of the aperture ring and it starts working again)
I fear some of the foam might have made it's way into the aperture mechanism and the helicoid...

Great finds on all three lenses. I feel your pain with the deteriorating foam. Some of that stuff is nasty. Is the Soligor's dent on the filter ring or does it have an extendable lens hood?

The dent is in the extendable hood, I'll still test the lens for decentering but I see no reason to worry.
There are a couple of small objects (dead insects?) stuck on one of the elements in the front group but those won't impact IQ.
Unless I can find a disassembly guide somewhere, I won't bother removing them.

Canon FD "chrome nose" 2.8/24mm, FD 1.4/50mm (also chrome nose), an early FD 2.5/135mm and the Canon FD 2x converter "B" ... for free Wink ... fits well to the FD 2.8/300mm SSC Fluorite which i acquired earlier this year. Time to present the set on artaphot, i guess!

Yes, I've already done several series of test images for all the eight lenses, each one at all apertures. Most of the lenses are surprisingly good, given the fact that were computed in the 1960s.

Last week on the auction site I won these for £320
Minolta x700 boxed
Minolta 50mm 1.7 new and boxed
Minolta 75-200 boxed
Minolta md 35-70mm f3.5 macro
Minolta s-300 teleconverter boxed
Minolta 28mm f3.5
Minolta zoom camera 110 m2

And the bargain of the lot ( photos were not very clear but managed to spot it ):
Minolta 250mm mirror lens in excellent condition - now I am too scared to try it in case I made any scratches

Thank you.
Commented , when the buy was because my attention lenses , Carl Zeiss sap being were good, but I never imagined they had as much value as the cameras.
I never imagined they were so rare and expensive and of excellent quality , best of petacón .
One works 100 % other is locked , and the two lenses have some fungi, nothing that can not be solved with a good service profecionale .
