I would check the price for repair of the D800. It is a very good body.

The 17M (1.2x) follows Smile I won't use MF lenses without it

Yeah, I will probably do that. It costs 30€ to have an estimate made. Then I will know if it's worth it to get it repaired.
But first I am going to wait and see if the camera still does something with a charged battery.
If it still works I don't think I'll have that LCD repaired. Or is it a vital thing? Can't you see all that stuff in the viewfinder as well? (i'm not familoar with nikon DSLR's)

30 euro sounds like a fair price to identify what can be wrong.

Modern camera can be repaired by swapping components.
I had a nex7, but the mainboard needs to swap, and it costs more than a used one Sad
D800 should be possible to replace module-wise.
All info should be in the VF, no need to change LCD if you can use it as is.
Good luck, hope you can get it back to life. It's a lovely camera.

You are certainly right. From my experience in most of the cases it's far cheaper to look for a new (used) one.

When I had my last problem with a camera after the guarantee was expired (Murphy's law), I paid more then 250 Euro just to change the switch for the exposure mode (at the official service point from that make). That was the average cost of a used one at this time.

For me it looks rather that the seller was well aware that the service cost might be out of scope.

However, good luck. I may be too pessimistic and wrong.

I would be inclined to believe this as well if it were just the body being sold.
I bought this at an actual auction, not an online one. And a good part of the items brought into the auction house are from estates.
My guess would be the owner deceased and family brought it in. Would also explain why it had 3 perfectly fine lenses with it which would have brought a lot more if sold on a different platform. Photographer would know this, heirs probably not.

Offcourse it's all just speculation. Will never know where this set came from.

A used D800 sells around here for 1500-1800€ depending on condition. I would be surprised if the repair would cost anywhere near that.

But even if the body is total loss it was still a great deal on the lenses alone. Cool

Don't get too excited. Here's the catch:

This camera took a dive at some point and the top LCD is broken.
It came with a dead battery and no charger. So I just ordered a charger from China.
3-4 weeks wait before I get to see if this camera still has a spark of life in it. Neutral

Closer look. It seems like the camera fell on that loop where the strap goes. You can see a crack there. The top glass of the LCD is actually only cracked on the far right. All the other cracks are underneath there.

WELL
The battery charger has arrived and guess what. Shocked Very Happy Cool
I have absolutely no idea what Im doing here though. I'm so used to canon DSLR's! It took me half an hour to get it on aparture priority LOL.
I will spend the weekend reading a manual.

Cool.
You may need usb3 cable to transfer directly from the d800 to pc.
Card reader is ok too.

nikon menu is not so bad, but I also needed a few hrs to get use to operational functions Smile

This note is a follow-up to an earlier purchase I showed here -- a Nikon N80 35mm with MB-16 battery pack and three AF lenses, all Nikkors -- an AF 28-80 G, 70-300 G and a 50/1.8 D. I prefer the "D" lenses over the "G" lenses because they still have an aperture ring, they tend to have a stouter build quality, and they usually have a comfortably large focusing collar, so manual focus with them is easy.

I actually bid on the outfit for the MB-16. It's a fairly rare item and when it shows up on eBay the sellers are usually asking a lot for it. I was confident I would end up actually making money off this purchase. The outfit cost me $126. I sold the two zooms and my other N80 on eBay for $150. I didn't make a killing on the deal, but I wound up with a cleaner N80 than my other one, an MB-16 and an AF 50/1.8 D Nikkor for free, plus I pocketed $24 from the sales. I love it when I can pull off deals like this.

Very nice find- looks pretty minty to me! Great price I would say. Finally getting closer to that complete set eh? Congratulations. Now if only you can find such a deal on a 4/20, but it is exponentionally harder than the 3.5/25.
I have an extra 1.4/58 on the way, but I know you're looking for the 4/20.
Topcor lenses are so easy to get in the U.S- I found my collection completely by accident, never intended to have a set.

Congrats my friend in your great find!

Thanks! The 20/4 is always on my radar, but I had to buy a camera for work (an a7s) right these days, so I'll have to wait a little longer - actually I'm not really hoping to get a very good deal on it, since it's really scarce.
The 25 came because the seller accepted a very low best offer - which I didn't expect (buy it now was set at 285 dollars, I offered like 150). It's not really mint, it has some signs of use on the body, but glass is very clean, and the first shots I took with the a7s show better corner performance - even on FF - than I expected. Now I have to compare it with the other good 24's I have

Over the past week I snagged Tak 50/1.4 + Tak 105/2.8 for $55, Canon FD 100/2.0 for $70, and Zuiko 135/2.8 + 50/1.4 + 24/2.8 for $60. Not bad, right?

Canon 35 1.8 ltm. Got it today at the Kameraloppis (loppis=flea market) for 80EUR, haggled down from 120. Maybe not a bargain but i am happy with that. A few cleaning marks on the front and stiff focus. Cleaning the gunk and relubing it now.

I found this combo a few days ago at a street fair. The body was broken and had several dents, but the lens a SMC Pentax M 100mm f2.8 was in perfect condition. The biggest surprise was the price. A real bargain. Indeed, I have never bought a lens and body for 2 Eur. !!
The body will probably end up in the recycling park.

The MX would be handy for someone who may need spares, they are hard to come by for that price.

OH, It was the Auto Takumar 3.5/135 with the little cocking lever or whatever its called. Nothing special,I just bought it because I wanted it Wink

My latest bargain is a Bell and Howell, Taylor Hobson 1" f1.9 C mount lens in exc + condition for $11.50 including shipping.
Just a slight vignette on M4/3, but full coverage on the Nikon 1 system.

Been a while since I posted here... The last two weeks have been filled with not-quite-super-bargains-but-still-pretty-darn-sweet deals;

Rolleiflex 2.8e - ~$180 (local ad)
Leica M Summaron 35mm/2.8 - ~$180 (local ad, same as above)
Yashica T2 - ~$6 (local secondhand shop)
Yashica T5 - ~$60 (local ad)

These things do not pop up that often here in Norway, and I've been looking for a decent Rolleiflex for ages! The Summaron was actually listed as Summicron 35mm/2.0, but - of course - it turned out to be to good to be true. The aperture blades are a bit oily, but focus is smooth as silk. I don't have an M3, so I'll probably just sell it. Is it worth paying someone to clean it first? Photo here.

The Rolleiflex' shutter speeds seem to be correct, not too sure about the lightmeter. Also, the magnifying glass doesn't pop up as it should, but I don't think I'll bother sending it off for CLA and/or repairs anytime soon. I just popped a fresh roll of film in it and keep my fingers crossed for good weather this weekend. Can anyone tell me what the specks of white in this photo is?

I grabbed the T5 because the price was good and my T4 is pretty beat up. Really loving the super scope! The T2 has a crack in the clear plastic in front of the flash + the battery door is broken, but hey - it still works like a charm and was dirt cheap.

Another honorable mention from earlier this year:

- Nikon F2 Photomic in a large aluminum case with:
- Nikkor QD.C Auto 15mm/5.6 with 90K front cap (Ai converted with factory kit, glass in really good condition)
- Nikkor 20-50mm/4.0
- Polaroid back (!)
= Package deal at ~$120, deal of the year!

[EDIT: Might be "Schneideritis" inside the Rolleiflex?]
[EDIT#2: Wohoo! Turns out I just had a blonde moment - the magnifying glass thingy works just as it should, and the lightmeter seems ok.]

A few months back I bought 4 industrial cameras with 2 AF-Nikkor 50/1.4D and 2 Nikkor 35/1.4 AI-s in really nice condition, apart of the typical dry(ish) focusing rings of the 35's. All for 125€.
Sold one of each for around 500€ plus around 100€ from the cameras. In the end I received 475€ and 2 nice lenses. Smile

The Dallmeyer super six anastigmat 1" I found in the box in auction for under £20 sold for £750 on ebay!

Less of a bargain but still nice, I picked up a Mamiya Sekor ES 21mm f4 for £75 in mint with original case ( fits E mount perfectly with an xfujinon adapter, just need to fix it to the adapter with some removable gorilla glue), and it may be too good to be true as it hasn`t arrived yet, a Sigma Art 50mm 1.4 in A mount for £300.

(not long in spending the Dallmeyer money hmmm)
