Hello,
I bought Vivitar Series 1 28-90 f/2.8-3.5, hadn't tested the lens properly as the package arrived in the late evening, however I found out that push-pull zooming is really stiff. Focusing is fine, but you need to put a way to much force to zoom in/out.
Do any of you have any idea how to cope with such problem?
First thing that come up my mind (and quite obvious) is to disassemble, clean and re-lube, but I wouldn't like to do this as I don't have any good lubricant for lenses. I read somewhere that Vivitar S1 70-210 Kiron made has screws with which you could regulate stiffness of zooming, maybe this Vivitar, although Komine made, has similar feature. I've repaired a few lenses already, including Kiron 28-85 varifocal, Viv S1 70-210 Tokina made zoom and Pentax-M 80-200 zoom, so I'm prepared what to meet inside old zoom , but would love to skip that part if there is any other solution.
Any ideas, opinions and maybe guides about disassembly will be appreciated.
