It's quite a story. I think it's posted here... someplace.

Undiscovered nanny photographer leaving over 100,000 negatives and lots of undeveloped film, bought at an auction of her storage space, which she could no longer pay for.

She did some wonderful work.

Blende8, thanks, missed that thread, alhough I think posting her work here
in the Art section is more fitting.

The New York Times is on it now:

Several great images that I hadn't seen before.

I often wonder if women could be the better street photographers because they might not as easily be seen as a threat by the depicted persons.
What do you think?

Well, it's kind of a generalization. Women can be targets for all kinds of unwanted attention. Diane Arbus would boldly go into the NYC subway at 3AM with a couple of expensive cameras (Rollei's?) around her neck. Balls. Real balls.

What I find interesting is that apparently she never sought any kind of notoriety or recognition. She had a superb eye and presumably had a real need to shoot, to satisfy herself only.

I do think that in some circumstances, being female might be an advantage. Think I'll shave my legs and go try on one of my wife's dresses...
