What is a reasonable price for this lens?

The Polish dealer may have it almost right for one in very good condition, around $400.

Those guys seem to have more reasonable prices for the European equipment.

Let me qualify that - this Polish dealer wants only about twice as much as the reasonable price, which is pretty good, considering his competition (Gokevin, etc.).

I have a couple of Pancolar 80mm and Biotar 75mm I try to never sell any of them. I can't First one will trade with Andy to Olympus 90mm f2 ,I will give him a Pancolar 80+Flektogon 20mm f2.8 MC.

400 USD a good price for fat Biotar. First one is priceless because so rare I bought mine for 400 EUR on friendly price.

It would take a lot of work on color white balance to make a modern lens work like this. Maybe halfway between neutral and warm, but no Expodisc or some such is like that. Their warm is way too warm. Or, use an old lens. I am going to carry this and Tomioka 55/1.2 for a while.

It is ironic that the 1930's and 1951 have in common close focusing, skinny shape, lots of diaphragm blades(18 or 20? I forget). The fat or WW2 era glass is great, about the same.

I see bubbles in glass of one 1951, and no bubbles in the other. The writing and markings have the same general look, but numbers are a little different in size and metal looks different in color between the two. Micro variations, micro history. One is R-Biotar.

I bought two seized-up fat biotars. One is a medical mount. I think they can be fixed. Glass is perfect.

These(yours above) pictures rebut the claim that biotar 75 does not saturate images. Look at the hat! Maybe there is a variation between 75's. I have a 1930's that is sharper than a particular 1951. I will test a different 1951 soon, maybe the first week of October.

I'm trying to find anyone who is able to rework 75/1.5 from exacta mount to M42 or Sigma SA and retain exact infinity focus. But I have no luck. Any tips?

I made a non-destructive adapter Exakta->PK, using an M42->PK adapter and an Exakta rear lens cap. Its much less difficult than I thought it would be.

I think you could try doing the same with an M42-> Sigma adapter. It looks very similar to an M42->PK adapter.

Exakta-M42 would be possible but this will possibly require machining to get something acceptable. It is a bit of a design challenge. Perhaps you could try mating an M39-M42 adapter with that Exakta rear cap.

And it is pretty easy to adjust infinity focus on the Biotar. I should disassemble mine and take pictures to illustrate.

Hi Luis, thanks for sharing the tempting pics and your PK solution. FWIW, I'm considering one, probably also an exacta mount for use on my K20, any further info on how you acccmplished it might tell me if it will be worth the effort - its a fairly expensive lens to have to experiment on, hehe.

I will need a flanged M42->PK adapter and an Exakta metal rear lens cap - actually I have a spare and I can give it to you.

I don't see why nobody produces exakta->"modern mount" adapters. I used slide gauge to make sure and it should be possible to produce at least exakta to Sigma SA adapter (infinity focus) - there should remain at least 0,5 mm space between exakta mount (Biotar) and SD14 dust filter...

Both of mine are m42.
One actually came from Attila and I will keep.
The only reason I would sell is because of need to buffer finances.
Duplicates in this lens are not necessary for me.

There are Exakta->Canon EOS and Exakta->4/3 adapters available.

Its just Pentax, Sigma, Nikon ones that don't exist.
