To take a piece of the world and make it become a piece of art, without any preparation. What a fantastic eye this photographer.
The person behind the glass can be an encounter, any encounter. People who we know just in part - but who can tell to know the whole of a person? We know only a part of the persons. There is a part we know and see, and a part we don't see. This photo brings this concept out in the simplest and most immediate of ways.
This image is so pure, it's close to poetry.

Another of my favourite photographers on Flickr - the real thing if you ask me. All using film I think also, with MF glass.

I wonder if these guys represent a particular school of Japanese photography as they seem to share some similar themes.
