I could not resist getting a beautifully preserved Minolta MD 135mm.
Here is a quick test.
#1 Backlight situation, Built in hood extended. Straight out of camera.
#2 Same photo as number 1 but with curve adjustment.
#3 Built in hood extended and hand shade. Straight out of camera.
#4 Same as number 3 but with a curve adjustment.
The contrast straight out of camera with hood and hand shade impressed me.
They went all in for contrast when building this lens. It has multicoating that looks high end. A built in hood. And even black felt material on the inside of the mount.
#5 Compared to Meyer-Optik Görlitz Diaplan 100mm 2.8, curve adjustment.
#6 Finally back to the Minolta with a random bokeh shoot with curve adjustment.

Wow - extremely pretty photos!
I find the dehaze slider in Photoshop Camera RAW to do nicely with washed out images, even on it's own. _________________ UK |

Quite a lot of purple CA on the last shot, but that could be easily fixed. Looks like a very good lens. _________________ I don't care who designed it, who made it or what country it comes from - I just enjoy using it! |

It is a good lens, as is its slower brother the MDIII 135/3.5.
Some of the Minolta MDII and MDIII tele lenses have built-in sliding hoods like the 135/2.8 you used here, but all are invariably a little too short (exception is the MDIII 100/2.5 which has a deep unusual two-section telescopic sliding hood). _________________ Mark

Thanks!
My version doesn't have dehaze, maybe I can update and get better results. |

Yes, a lot of CA. Probably needs aggressive removal in some situations. Personally I never remove it, I kind of like it.

Yes a larger separate hood would probably help. I have a MD 100mm 2.5. Not sure if it's MD I or II. With no built in hood so it definitely needs one! |

Do you know if this is a 4-lens or a 5-lens version? |

If it is an MDIII as Blofaton suggested, then it can only be a 5/5 construction.
Weight is a good indicator: the MC-X/MDI/MDII 4/4 lenses are all approx. 535 grams, the MDIII 5/5 is 385 grams (late MDII 5/5 is 365 grams)
If in doubt Dennis Lohmann's Minolta site is always a good reference:

Thank you, Minolta has so many versions of many lenses, very hard to follow sometimes. |
