Which camera and lens does Jake Gittes use on the rooftop to photograph Hollis Mulwray and his mysterious young woman at the beginning of the movie Chinatown (1974)?
It's clearly a Leica camera with a long telephoto lens. I read somewhere that the lens is a Telyt, but to me it looks more like a 135mm Hektor or something. I'm no Leica expert, so I'm wondering it anyone knows for sure.
This question has been bothering me for some time. |
It's shown in the movie trailer...yes, looks like a 135mm. _________________ ☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮ like attracts like! ☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮

This one I would say it is a Telyt 20cm F4.5 although is is designed for Visoflex. The big aperture ring is a feature of the Telyt 200 and the name "Wetzlar" are on the front. For pops, you can use anything attachable to the camera.

Indeed, Telyt 200/4,5, of course in an inappropriate configuration fitted on the camera without the Visoflex, and paired to a 35/135 viewfinder |
