Hello,
I would like to share my curiosity regarding the Arri DNA lenses.
Arri rental offer some sets that are usefull with the Alexa 65 and 735 cameras.

Its a mix of hasselblads, mamyias anb possible other lenses, but what about the prime DNAs ?
FF lenses with a better coverage or even the same mamyias with speedboster ?
Its true that those lenses arent new, no one.

This honestly looks more like and advertizement than useful info for our members here.

Convince me that this is NOT an ad please Wink

It indeed looks like a mix of old medium format and perhaps 35mm lenses rehoused to be used on the Alexa 65. They mention it is done by IB/E Optics, also involved in the making of medium format focal reducers with Kipon, so the use such optics is possible. The regular prime 65 lenses are the Fuji-made Hasselblad HCD lenses, the prime 65 S appear to be Mamiya 645 lenses, the DNA versions appear to be a more random mix of lenses with large enough image circles and interesting optical flaws.

I agree with Klaus that it may not be the most relevant information for most people, given that it is unlikely that many will use Alexa 65 cameras and their rental lenses. I disagree with Klaus that this looks like an ad (for the same reason that none of us is likely to rent this stuff actually) and I agree with the original poster that it is interesting (perhaps not useful though) to know which vintage lenses are used in this way.

Yes I find this pretty interesting too.

From looking at the focal lengths that are available I would guess that the Prime 65 are the Hasselblad HCD lenses rehoused and the Prime 65S are the Pentax 645 lenses rehoused (because there isn't a 75mm or a 90mm in the Mamiyas).

For the Prime DNA's they are a bit harder as they are a combination.
I would guess that they are largely Mamiya M645 Sekor C lenses because in that set you have...

Mamiya Sekor C
35mm f3.5 / 45mm f2.8 / 55mm f2.8 / 70mm f2.8 / 80mm f1.9 / 110mm f2.8 / 150mm f2.8 APO / 200mm f2.8 APO

The ones that are a bit of a mystery in the DNA's are the in-between ones, or ones that don't have matching focal lengths / speeds to the Sekor C's such as the....

28mm T2.8 - could be a Hasselblad Zeiss 40mm f4 with a 0.7x speed booster as the Hasselblads have quite a large image circle compared to the Alexa 65 so they might just cover with the speed booster?
50mm T2.0 - could be a Leica 70mm f2.5 with 0.7x speed booster?
65mm T1.6 - could be a Leica 90mm T2.2 with speed booster?

Not exactly sure of any of these but I've been having fun trying to work it out.

There's a post about this on another forum over here too > https://forum.luminous-landscape.com/index.php?topic=137391.msg1204535#msg1204535
