At 35mm and f5.6, ISO 200.

Roughly a center crop of frame above.
Image taking distance was about 8 feet or 2 meters, and no where near minimum focus distance.

At 70mm and f5.6 again.

Crop of the 70mm image above.

At 35mm and f5.6 and infinity.

Crop of 35mm image above.

At 70mm and f5.6 and infinity.

Crop of 70mm image above.

Nothing spectacular, but again nothing really adverse either.
It's a bit fringy wide open at both 35mm and 70mm.
Contrast seems to weaken a bit at 70mm.

I need to do a bit more with it at MFD and see how it works there.

I had both the komine made vivitar f:3.5 & f2.8/3.8 versions

The f:3.5 was bigger but better..A that time, i made a comparaison with the zuiko 3.6 35/70 which was one of the best 35/70 and the iq (of the 3.5) was similar except at 3.5 & 35mm where the zuiko had the head

Just for info : the 3.5 was a 2.5/3.5 lens (as the kobori/tefnon made soligor 2.5/3.5 - 35-70) but a cam closed the iris to 3.5 at 35mm

I have the 35-70/3.5 Komine version. It is a very contrasty lens, but I find it's rendering a bit harsh. Bokeh is pretty busy or wonky too.

I think this is the Komine version with the 28 pre-fix.
It's fairly small for a zoom, and does not take up a lot of bag space.
I kind of like the angle of view of this at 35mm, and should probably investigate a 35mm prime.

Here's my collection of 35-70mm zooms ordered by size.

The 35-70mm 1:4 Pentax-A is missing it's filter thread (common, it breaks when dropped with a hood attached I guess) so it is actually a bit taller.

How is your experience with the Tamron?
I may have to go to nikkor, but there are very mixed reviews there...

I like it. It's really a more compact and less famous version of the 35-80 2.8-3.8 (01A). I got it really cheap and wasn't expecting much but it surprised me. 35mm side is excellent in the frame (I'm not a corner peeper) It is also really good for close up and has great smooth bokeh.
