So I was able to pick up this 300mm lens for less than €5 euro and figured I should give it a try. My expectations of this lens were very low, and after testing it I still don't know what to think of it. It's not terrible, but also far from good. What are your thoughts on this cheap old telelens?

Yep, there are better ones out there!
But you can probably pep up those pics with contrast and some sharpening. Actually you might want to look closely at the optics and check for haze, there is a slightly foggy character to the pics - the 400mm sankors are terrible for a hazed rear element.

I had one - not bad really. Though I was using a much less dense sensor at the time.

It seems there is some loss of contrast in the last image. Maybe some direct light entering the lens? Other than that, it doesn't look too bad to me.

- EDIT - :This morning I was looking on my phone. The images look a bit less on my monitor though. The last picture doesn't look right to me (difficult lighting? Haze?)
