Using Fujicolor Pro 160:




This is using an Epson 2450 scanner that took me all night to work out the
bugs on the software. Finally realized that I had to go to the Epson site to
download the new drivers for Windows XP. I know these are kinda rough,
but will work on them later. The person pic, had only one fluorescent
lighting fixture for light and of course his glasses caught it, and I didn't have a light meter at the time, so did an approximation on settings, and
without flash.

I like the quality of the scan of the first image much. But as artistic result, the earlier B&W version is IMO out of reach.

Yeah, I know, the B&W is better. The 2nd pic I ran through Neat Image
to try to do something with it--I'll probably just take it down.

I got some other shots out of that roll that look pretty good but it is
almost 5am and I haven't gone to bed yet! What the hey, it's my b-day
today, I'm Heinz 57!

Also, these are only 300dpi scans. I still haven't figured out how to
scan higher. There's no selection for color negatives when you go
manual select mode, at least I haven't found it yet.

The first picture might not be as good artistically as the B&W version, I wouldn't know about that really. But I think you should be proud of it as it is, perfect exposure and great sharpness for a scan. And I like these colours much better than the ones you posted from the Olympus.

Thanks, guys, and Peter, I believe you are the oldest here. I
share my birthday with Jay Leno (same year same day) Jessica Alba,
Penelope Cruz, and there's a guy in Iraq that will no longer be sharing
the birthday with me!

About these pics, they are scans from color negs, and the Olympus scans
were from prints and yes I'm very happy with the results! Color film
developing for 120 film is $4 and no tax. I'll be getting the film holder
from betterscanning, but this will do for a little while. I just got a developing tank and two 35mm stainless reels, have to get a couple 120s
and another tank and I'll be trying B&W film processing.

Here's the reason why I finally drug the Epson out of the box and set it
up. This is at 1200dpi originally, and this is what greeted me after waiting
nearly 12 minutes for it to complete. I mean, where would you start
to fix this? This is the old HP scanner:

btw, the scenery you have shown looks just like here (lower rhine area in germany). Atmosphere, flora and the flat landscape is the same - only thé letterbox is looking typical american for my eyes.

Yes, (I installed that mailbox ) and it's the biggest rural mailbox
you can get (I think it's 16 x 24 x 12 inches high).
