Nice lens. Quite big, but not so heavy.

Yes it is. The lens fits the Sony quite well. I think it’s about the same weight as my Tokina 90/2.5 macro with extender. I didn’t pay too much for it either, considering these lenses were about 3,000 dollar new.

Last summer I've been taking quite a few images of golden objects and textile stuff in a Swiss museum, using both the 43MP A7RII and the 50 MP Fuji GFX side-by-side - mostly with the Mamyia Sekor A 4/120mm. Best resolution was at f8, but quite often I had to stop down to f16 to get enough depth-of-field.

Apart from this, also lenses such as Minolta AF 2.8/50mm Macro, the Minolta AF 2.8/100mm Macro and the Mamiya Sekor C 4/80mm Macro were used. While newer lenses may have their advantages at wider apertures, the older lenses mentioned here work very well at f8 or f11.

Absolutely.in fact, I use a Nikkor 55/3.5 for all my ebay listings. It’s darn sharp.

Found some info on the Mamiya’s resolution on PcMag. It’s about the AF version, but I believe the internal glass is the same (except the coatings maybe).

“ I tested the 120mm lens with the Mamiya Leaf Credo 50 digital back. At the maximum f/4 aperture the lens scores 3,262 lines per picture height on a center-weighted Imatest sharpness test, with even sharpness from edge to edge. That's much better than 1,800 lines we look for in a photo. At f/5.6 it doubles that 1,800 line mark, recording 3,611 lines, and it improves at f/8 (3,641 lines) and peaks at f/11 (3,850 lines). Diffraction does set in at narrower apertures—but performance is still excellent at f/16 (3,619 lines). You may very well use f/22 (2,883 lines) and f/32 (2,039 lines) for macro work, but there is a loss of resolution at those narrow settings. The lens shows no visible distortion.”
