Finally somebody has picked up the idea to make an adapter for the V-mount lenses by Minolta, once produced for the RD3000 digital SLR and the Vectis S-1 and S-100 APS film SLR cameras.

These lenses should perform well on the APS-C NEX system, but there never was an adapter available.

The gentleman who had made one for himself now has made one (or more?) of them and they were even on ebay!

Let's hope there will be more, maybe even in numbers so the prices could drop a bit, but it's a start! I'd love to try mine anyhow!

Very interesting! Thanks for sharing it, René.
Too bad that AF is not suported (and the designer has no plan to add auto-focus on it).

The second link is identical with the first one - could you replace it with the correct one?

Only the 80-240 APO, 50mm macro and 17mm prime are really worth adapting. The 80-240 APO is common and cheap, the other two are not common, the 17 comes along once in a blue moon.

I don't see how you focus the lenses if there is no AF.

Link fixed!

I am also most interested in the macro prime and the APO zoom, i have both. The 17mm fetches quite good prices when it pops up, so does the 400. Some of the zooms could be very handy as a light and compact travel solution. The 22-80 is small, light and covers a nice range i think.

Yes, I forgot that one. It's a superb lens as all they did was scale down the 500mm AF design.

Same with the 80-240 APO, it's the 100-300 APO scaled down.

The other four zooms were in two pairs - a cheap pair and a higher priced pair. The cheap ones, while small are pretty crap. The two expensive ones are okay, but still nothing special.

The cheaper kitenses are the 28-56 and the 56-170.

Well, the man who has actually built a working adapter (except for AF, but the better lenses have a manual ring) seems to have vanished.

He did make some, and there are actual samples. So: it is possible to make it work! ( https://www.flickr.com/photos/neilt3/albums )

Just now i stumbled upon a Minolta RD-3000 camera with the Vectis 17mm lens and 3 other lenses. I could not resist..... i bought the set, it's on it's way to me now. It's the only camera ever made that can shoot the V-line lenses digital! I'm really curious about the system and the results it gives.

This of course got me thinking of the V-mount to E-mount again. Some might think it's not worth the effort, and that may be true, but i simply can't get the idea out of my head. The E-mount has been reverse engineered by now, see here: http://camera-wiki.org/wiki/Sony_E_mount_reverse_engineer.

The question is: is the needed adapter simply a matter of connecting wires to the correct pins, or is it necessary to make an intelligent connection with a translation print??

Its been a while since this post, but I am thinking the same things as most here. I have already the 400mm lens and the 22-80mm as well as the 80-240mm APO. I would definitely buy a next camera if this adapter was still being made. For years I was hoping someone would make a mechanical adapter for the micro four thirds system mount so I could atleast use my 400mm lens. I am kicking myself for not paying attention to anything camera related for the past 5 years

They are available again and can be found on facebook as MonsterAdapter or on eBay. I purchased one recently for my 400mm.
