Nice shots! The blue cones look like made of wool, with small insects trying to fly in. Shocked Which plant this is?

Rino: Thank you. On my opinion Tomioka was very good optical designer, but many photographers know it because of their 55/1.2 lens, which isn't as sharp as modern lenses and show more significatn CA, but those people forget, that this lens was the first f/1.2 prime lens for M42 system and it was targeted for B/W photography, so CA wasn't a problem. Anyway, good copy of their 55/1.4 is excellent sharp lens with zero CA a this 60/2.8 macro seems to be even better. It's one of the sharpest M42 lens I have ever tried - I'd say it's on similar level as 50mm Takumars/Pancolars or 80mm Pancolar.

tobbsman, Nesster: Many thanks Smile

Gurdie: It's a conifer in my sister's garden, I think it's some variety of Korean Fir (Abies Koreana). It was taken under overcast sky, so it's quite flat, but the colors are pastel-like.

Hello Jiri,
Is this lens compatible with SD14? Read some review saying there is very horrible glare from the lens, how did you deal with it?
Thanks,
Wei

This Yashinon 60/2.8 macro is a legend, an ancestor of the later Kyocera
AF 60/2.8 macro lens which is better than the original macro. Alas, AF
bodies were so bad Kyocera AF lenses had a miserable fate, I think.

Excellent results indeed. Was that 2nd rose shot done in IR (infrared)?

This Kyocera AF macro 60/2.8 is rather rare lens even in Japan,
I do not know its market value. More than 10 year ago, its value
was 30~40,000 yen. I have no idea today how much.
(MSRP was 50,000 Yen.)

I doubt today if you can find a good (means "working") AF body
for the lens. That lens is not focusable without AF body, uugghh.
The lens has one more element at the rear to correct sharpness
at infinity position.

It is extremely hard to find photo examples by this AF macro lens,
there was a very famous site in Japan, which is now defunkt(?)

Beautiful pair of shots, is that what they call periwinkle blue? The rose's
muted color is most unusual, thanks for sharing! And looks like a lens
to watch for...

Sorry for late reply....

The 60/2.8 Yashinon is compatible to Sigma, the only issue is some color vignetting when shooting stopped down (e.g. f/Cool. It's typical for some old retro-focal wide angle lenses when used on Foveon/Sigma cameras, but this is the first standard lens, which has this issue, too. Anyway, it can be removed in photoshop.

The second picture is standard full-color photo, only saturation is decreased and white balance is adjusted manualy - to create neutral (almost B/W) background. No additional or selective adjustments were applied.

Thanks Smile
