I have found next to zero information on this particular lens. The 400mm version is currently on ebay, but I haven't seen any other examples of the 300. Add to that the portion that attaches the bellows to the mount is missing. I mean, I only paid $40 for this behemoth but I'd still like to clean it and try it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Wow, amazing score. Says f4 on the barrel there.
That whitening looks horribly reminiscent of the glass deterioration that afflicts older generic "anybrand" 400mm f6.3's - no remedy. But you won't know until you have the glass out and try to clean it...

Certainly a rare and interesting find! If one lens has lost its transperence, a re-polishing with cerium oxide might be an option, but I'm not an expert on that. It might be useful to contact an optical enterprise and ask whether they could re-polish a single lens.

Apart from that, the corresponding 5.6/600mm Canon R lens (https://global.canon/en/c-museum/product/r88.html) was sold in local auction here in Switzerland, a few months ago. It went up to about CHF 800 (USD 900), but it was in pristine condition.
