I came across this idea on the internet. A digital back system for medium format cameras. A two part system, one a back adapter, the other part is a digitiser.

(see here https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/samellos/im-back-low-cost-medium-format-digital-)

The digitiser is basically a camera which focuses on a screen held in the film plane. I'm wondering if this could be recreated using a GoPro?

GoPro would be less resolution, less expensive, more work required.

I've got one sorted, but a Fresnel screen would be better. It looks basically like one of those neg scanners that use a camera inside. Incidentally the information about this states that it has a gopro size sensor.

If you, basically, shoot the GG of a medium format camera then the GoPro resolution would be more than enough. The GG resolution won't be more than 2mpx. and you should expect some artifacts from the fresnel lens, too.
Look at how a GG image of a 4x5 LF camera looks like and consider a 6x4.5cm (or 6x6-6x7-6x9) part of it.

Not very promising, IMO. But, of course, it could be a lot of fun in using it.

My go pro adaptor works fine but the screen has to be a fresnel lens. Ground glass just has a hotspot and is pretty useless.
