I read somewhere that this is not the only lens with a concave front element, but I can't find any reference to any other such lens. Does anybody have any insight on this? Regardless, this lens is from a different planet: because of the concave front element, because of its name, and more than anything because of image quality....

Excellent!!!!!
Now. What about the flaring resistance?
IT's a single coat lens of the end of the 60's
Lateral CA?
I read that the sweet of the lens is from F/4 to f/8 as the average. Is it true?
The rendering of the Ultron and of the Rollei made planar 1,8/50 hft are the same? Any better?
Thank you |

I have not found flare to be a problem, at least not any worse than later T* coated lenses.
Regarding CA I have not been bothered by it, and it is in any way quite easy to fix during editing.
The lens is fantastic at any aperture - yes perhaps it is sharpest around f/5.6 (e.g., the B&W cat portrait), but even fully open it is magnificent
I have no experience with the Rollei lens, so can't comment on that.
I hope this helps!! _________________ Alberto
