I really rate it but at first found it a bit temperamental in how good images it could produce.. Also its f2.8 so not overly fast.

However, awesomely sharp and great contrast makes it ideal for BDW imo..

Couple of samples.

I got one a while ago. My impression is its color is oversaturated, especially for blue/green. But my
experience is limited in this lens.

first pic with the Zeiss lens.

f11 - calibrated profile color.
the contrast is good, amazing colors.
It' seem as a good modern lens.
Blacks are very deep.

As good as a modern lens? At f11, maybe yes.
At f2.8: certainly not.

7Artisans 35/2 and 7Artisans 35/1.4 (E-mount version) are very much modern, yet do manage to be worse than 35mm of the yesteryear.

The 7artisans lenses clearly are "retro" lenses, and as such i would hesitate to call them "modern" ...

I used in the past many vintage lenses, this zeiss is best of all.
Colors are realistic and deep-sharpness is very good.

I want to sell my Minolta lenses for to by the Flektogon 25mm and pancolar 50mm f2

They are very recent designs and 7Artisans haven't marketed them as retro.
And even if they would, this sure haven't helped Voigtlander with their 35/1.4.
Customer judgement for all of them was largely anchored in modern expectations.

I understand what you are saying: the yesteryear best 35s are nowhere near modern best 35s.
But I think it is not entirely unreasonable to claim yesteryear gem can be on par with some modern lenses.

For the price ( 70 to 150 $) the lens is amazing.
I think the zeiss and leica vintage lenses are best of all, maybe takumar too.
I used many good lenses : minolta rokkor - yashica- canon fd zoom , hexanon- but nothing is compares to this lens.
I've a fujinon modern zoom 15-45 for landscape but Zeiss colors are more realistic, deep. It's really sharp also at 2.8.
Quality is similar to 2.4 version lens.
