Question - If you use adaptall2 lenses on a canon dslr body with an adapter, can you control the fstop
(stop down) or are you stuck with wide open only?

You can control the fstop manually as normal.

arghh Smile
Yes but they are quite rare and expensive...
I also dream of a 300mm 2.8
I also lookin for a 24-40mm

hifisapi : I adjust the aperture to the value i want, and the DSLR correct the exposure, it can be necessary to correct the exposure by -1 ou -2 EV otherwise it can be overexposed, but i works most of the time very nicely.
Keep in mind that iris is closed to the chosen aperture so image can be dark in the viewfinder

Great!

I also like Adaptall-2 lenses a lot.

My set is much smaller but still convenient.

2.5/24
2.5/28
3.5/35-70
2.8-3.8/35-80
2.5/135
8.0/500

Others I have sold meanwhile (3.5/70-210, 3.8-4/70-210, 3.8-5.4/60-300).

I dont have most of them, but the TC 200F, and 300/2.8 360B. The TC produces a little bit better at the edges than the 01F.
Very nice collection.

I don't doubt the quality images that these lenses can produce, but christ they're ugly. Laughing

True, but that's because it's a completely different design from the old ones.
This one looks more like a Nikon, which is a compliment by the way. Very Happy

Whoo Turtle Congrats

It seems you got nearly all the best SP lenses. May be a SP 350 will be a good lens for your collection.

Very nice collection indeed! What about your experiences with the SP 5.6/300mm vs SP 2.8/3000mm? Many years ago I had theopportunity to shoot in parallel with my own Minolta AF 2.8/300mm APO G HS and a friends Tamron SP 2.8/300mm ... I wold be interested to see how the SP 5.6/300 and the SP 2.8/300 compare e.g. at f5.6 and f11!

Some wonderful glass there - a delightful collection. You have one of the two SP lenses I regretted selling the moment they were posted away - the Soft Focus zoom. The other was the 400mm. Perhaps the biggest surprise in the range of SP Adaptall-2 lenses has been the 35-105 f2.8 ASL - it was one I had not heard about and it only arrived last week but results have been exceptional. If you get the chance, do try the little 350mm mirror lens - especially if you have a digital camera with really good IS. The long SP 300mm f5.6 lenses remain one of my favourites - very sharp, even illumination and wonderful macro capability.

And, as another Sansui user, nice to see that amp!

Thank you !

The 350mm is very difficult to catch, and it is expensive.

I am planning to do a big 300mm battle in the weeks to come, because I also want to see the reel differences. But I can already say that the 300 2.8 is wonderfull, sharp even at 2.8 !

I also did a quick comparison of the 80-200 f2.8 vs Nikon 80-200 f2.8 ED.... The Tamron is sharper at 2.8 !!!
