Why does this lens sell for such a high price?
Is it excellent optically and offer something other lenses in this focal length can't or is it just because it's a rare lens?
It's not a very fast lens.

It is rare and RE Auto Topcors are very collectable.
The results that I have seen from it are good, but not better than other 24mm lenses costing less.
I think rarity is the cost driver for this lens

Minimum Focus Distance : 16cm

This may be part of the reason for its price...
