I've provided myself with one from Yashinon-DX family for an affordable price. First I decided it had some fault because from-the-camera shots look a bit washed, as compared to Yashica ML line which is very contrasty. But I practiced a bit more with it and recognized that a shift towards overexposure makes part of the lens' character. I assume it is a very elegant, sublime optical instrument. I dub the high note given to it by some forum members.
Here are some samples from the lens put on NEX, at f2.8-f5.6 depending on the light intensity.
#1 The colours are a bit moderate, not on the punchy side, but I start liking it more and more
#2 Simple conversion to BW gives perfect results, adding some luxury touch to the scenes
#3 Close focus background is even and creamy
#4 Sharpness and 3D effect are appreciable
#5 Evening shots are well balanced, high detalisation is kept and some glow without exageration adds the mood
This is a silver nose version of the lens, with yellowed glass. Now I have a better idea how Yashica DX is compared to ML. One immediately visible difference is colour rendition (muted with DX) and global contrast (stronger with ML). Microcontrast is really good in both lines. |

An excellent lens as you have shown.
All the Yashinon-DX 50mm lenses are excellent - the 2/50 1.7/50 and the 1.4/50
Not sure if there ever was a 1.2/50, but I have never seen one

That's a nice set of pictures, made better by a lovely lens. I've got the chrome nose 50 / 1.4 DX and it's probably my favourite 50 , maybe my Zuiko 50 / 1.4 is better? I don't know.....I just love the old Yashinon glass. _________________ LENSES & CAMERAS FOR SALE.....

Fellows, a nice presentation of the DX 1.4 relative!
I add an indoor shot and a bit more of city shapes taken with the DX 1.7.

Sorry about that - I don't know why the forum put in the extra post from me as a quoted listing when all I had done was an edit.
It has been doing strange things of late.
