So I opened this Nikkor 180/2.8, which was basically a brick.

Now I have cleaned and lubricated the inner helicoids, all ok.

But the outer helicoid is 15+ threads and impossible to refit by hand.

I was thinking of some sort of centering axle like used to install car cluthes? Any other tips or tricks?

actually it is this lens and I followed his instructions

but he never showed the assembly process so I doubt he ever got the lens back together either Very Happy
