It has two very different slopes, especially in the corners of its format. From f 1: 2 to f 1: 4 the objective is bad without palliatives, from f 1: 5,6 it is placed at a level commensurate with current optics.
With Nikon Z6, using the FTZ adapter: it does not confirm the focus, the diaphragm is set manually, the photometry works correctly and generates the EXIF data always at maximum aperture. Logical since it does not have mechanical information of the selected f.
Evaluation.
The evaluation that can be made of this 28 mm., Placed in front of a DSL, CSC or Mirrorless... as we want to call it, is of a fair approval. Like so many old opticians of high reputation in their life of film they have a little telecentric projection and some coverings in the pupil of exit improvable, all it harms the performance on the current sensors.
As we have already seen in the MTF50% test, the objective has two phases of performance and differences, so if we value only the area of f 1: 5.6 onwards it becomes a more than reasonable objective, remarkable.
In favor :
- Reasonable optical performance over a DSLR or CSC with a very uneven behavior between large, medium and closed openings.
- Construction, finishes and excellent adjustments.
Improvable:
- Greater contrast in the central area at full opening and a lower level of longitudinal ACs.
- Amplitude of the lateral ACs improvable in the first three diaphragms.
