Hi Tom.
Which version are yours Miranda 50 mm lenses?
Can you send pics of them?
Thanks |
Hi Papasito,
I have both the Auto Miranda E and EC.
I can find no real difference between them.
On the left is the Auto Miranda E mounted on my Fuji with home made adapter - you can see the sloppy epoxy where I glued the parts together
It consists of an M39 to FX adapter plus a T-mount plus a possible bellows ring for Miranda that I found in a box of bits.
The registration distance turns out to be spot on, but it took a lot of trial and error to get it right.

Thank you Tom.
Very nice camera and lenses.
The EC coating seems to be more Strong than the plane Auto Miranda's.
IT reminds me the coating of the normals mamiya sx lenses.
I like very much the rendering of both Mirandas you have. |

There is quite a range of 50mm lenses for Miranda besides the E and EC
A 5cm f1.9 Miranda Soligor was made by Kowa and is quite different.
There are others.

Another great image taken with the Miranda lens.
I can see that the coated of your EC version seems to be stronger than the auto Miranda one. |

Actually, this shot was from the E, but looks coated to me.
Such a good lens, under rated because it isn't one of the big names.

Hi Tom,

I'm not knowledgeable about Miranda's lineup, but I think Walter G probably knows quite a bit.
From the little that I have read, the E and EC lenses were labelled as such on the front escutcheon ring.
These lenses were capable of interface with Miranda cameras that had auto exposure. AFAIK the EC is a more compact range than the E but functionally the same.
Interestingly there seem to be/maybe/possibly/could be ..... two different designs for the 1.4/50
Supposedly the first design, without the E or EC, might be a unique design....... and might have 8 elements.
Whether or not, it is a cracker of a lens.

Thanks, Tom. I also read it the Auto Miranda is an 8-element design. I am waiting for the adapter to come so I can test the lens out. |

You will enjoy it I think.
The depth of focus wide open is quite shallow, but the rendering is quite beautiful.
Here is a shot of my grand daughter taken recently with the 1.4/50

It was just the one bird with several shots.
It is an Australian pelican.

I had to make an adapter for the Fuji.
It consists of an M39 to FX adapter plus an old T-mount, plus a possible bellows ring for Miranda that I found in a box of bits.
The registration distance turns out to be spot on, but it took a lot of trial and error to get it right.
