This is one of a small collection of specialist macro lenses I have accumulated over a decade or two.

I have dug it out because I want to compare its performance with that of the Laowa x2.5 to x5 25mm macro. I have provided the Photar with the appropriate extension to match the x2.5 magnification of the Laowa but the comparison awaits a suitable subject.

The Photar weighs 49g and has an RMS thread. I have mounted mine on the Olympus OM system Objective Lens Mount PM-MTob:

My extension tubes are Kenko OM ones.

Further details will be given when I do the comparison.

One peculiarity is that the aperture ring turns a considerable distance beyond the f2.5 mark (first image). I have looked through the lens and can see no further opening of the blades beyond the mark. At the other end, (second image) it seems to match fairly closely.

Here is an image of the rim of a cup fungus. The FOV is 5mm wide, cropped to 3mm. The lens, set at f8, is on a 50mm long conical adapter, the adapter straight onto M42 to m4/3 adapter. Single TTL flash almost along the lens axis.

interesting.
widest enlarger lens I have is Rodenstock Rodagon 28/4, I use it for many purposes including macro, but mainly for landscape.
Is this lens reach infinity with your camera ?

On the A7r, with register distance 18mm, and just on the OM to RMS adapter (no NEX to OM adapter) the furthest focus is at about 120mm.
If I then reverse the lens and poke the front half of it into the camera (distance to sensor <15mm) it will focus on infinity. I won't be using that very much. Laugh 1
This differs from my Schneider HM40, which, without reversing, will focus on infinity.
