It's my understanding that Meyer more-or-less used similar "family names" for generations of lenses. For instance the "Orest-" series were all clean-sheet designs purely for covering the 35mm format only: "Orestegon" wide-angle, "Oreston" standard, "Orestor" moderate long-focus related to Sonnar (with a thick group at the front), and "Orestegor" long-focus using thin elements. The "Domi-" series was a little older: Domiron, Domiton, Domiplan etc. The older designs were old-school where each design has a given angle of coverage and the lens is merely scaled up, such as Trioplan, Triotar, Primotar, Tele-Megor, etc. |
