I recently was given a Nikon Sp and with Nikon 28 and 35mm lenses. Interesting I was also given a Soligor 135mm 2.8. I don't recognize the mount, even after doing a Google search. Would anyone be able to help me out? |

You will have to look for a T4 mount or another T4 lens with a usable mount.
T4 lenses were sold under both the Soligor and Vivitar brands in the late 60's-early 70s. _________________ I like Pentax DSLR's, Exaktas, M42 bodies of all kinds, strange and cheap Japanese lenses, and am dabbling in medium format/Speed Graphic work. |

Cool, are you saying that it is missing something, by saying no mount. I apologize for the stupid question. I am used to only my Nikon DSLR and Nikon SP lenses.

T4 were interchangeable mount systems (one of several) The manufacturer would send lenses without adapters to retailers who would mount the appropriate mount at customer request. One (larger, more expensive ) lens and several different adapters (smaller less expensive). Look up t4 on ebay in cameras and lenses. I actually have a t4 mount on a soligor zoom that I would be willing to part with for a nominal fee. (The adapter is good the lens is just not very sharp). _________________ photos are moments frozen in time |

No, the Rokinon item listed is a T-mount, which is a earlier, simpler system used for lenses without aperture linkages, like bellows, microscope adapters, manual or preset lenses.
The T4 was a later development that included the aperture linkage.
This is a T4 mount -

But its for a Pentax/Praktica/M42 mount. You will want one for Nikon. _________________ I like Pentax DSLR's, Exaktas, M42 bodies of all kinds, strange and cheap Japanese lenses, and am dabbling in medium format/Speed Graphic work. |

TX and T4 are very close. AFAIK you can use a T4 on a TX lens, but not always a TX on a T4 lens.

This is the most likely way to find a T4 mount, loose ones aren't that common, especially not in desirable mounts like Nikon.
This is a ridiculous asking price btw. This lens is worth under $30.

It's best to stick to a Soligor mount on a Soligor lens, I have a Vivitar and Soligor in TX Mount and one will fit the other but not the other way around - I can't remember which at the moment - there is a topic somewhere here on the forums, I'll have to find it. And I have done a very simple modification to make them both interchangeable.

I guess they can charge that because there is not a lot of demand. I don't think it is that bad considering I got the lens for free, it seems that there is no haze, fungus or scratches on the lens either. |

Thanks for finding the thread for me. If I bought the adapter the luisalegrai posted, how hard is it to install, and will it work on my Nikon D800 in aperture priority mode? I had read somewhere that non-ai lenses were not to be used with a DSLR. |

I have since added most of the TX lenses. You are best off using a T4 adapter on T4 lenses. From personal experience I know the Nikon AI TX adapter will not work on T4 _________________ In Search Of "R" Serial Soligors

It is a valid concern as some mounts can damage some Nikon cameras. I suggest you read these very carefully...

I did some online reading on this to make sure I wasn't giving any misleading info on my adaptall web pages. My conclusion was that there is no concern with any of the adaptall nikon mounts, and I believe the T4/TX mounts also are no problem.
Note that there is a TX nikon AI mount. It's difficult to find though, most of the ones you'll see online are just the basic F mount.

So this would work then?: [url]

I would have to run it in Aperature Priority on my D800. |
