...and the Sigma SD10 are a good combination!...Heres a full size sample pic taken in Bushy Park, W.London with it:
http://www.gigafiles.co.uk/files/18/stag1c.jpg
This flat-field, fixed focus lens was made to fit Vinten f95 aerial-recconnaisance cameras and I picked it up on ebay for about ?40.
I had to make a focussing M42 mount adapter from the helicoid and barrel of an old Mirage 135mm f2.8 lens, so I could use it on my DSLR, via an M42-SA adapter.
I also made a custom rotating tripod mounting collar for it...Here's what it looks like:
http://sigmasd10.fotopic.net/p30290787.html
One amazing thing is that it was made right here in Leicester in good old blighty!
Its very sharp, as long as its stopped down (its best between f8-f11), and I find it great for candid street portraits:

http://sigmasd10.fotopic.net/p38423715.html
(You can see them half size by clicking on them).
It has a huge, non-standard, 95mm front filter thread, stops from f4 down to f16 and it has a 16 blade Iris.
In case you were unaware, Taylor-Hobson invented many of the lens designs used today by Leica, Zeiss and others and many of their "Cooke" brand lenses are still very sought after.
Mine is a late model made by Rank Taylor-Hobson.
Alas in the hands of Rank, Taylor-Hobson discontinued making lenses.

DSG,
Some great info and the candid shots of the dancer and bongo player
are simply excellent! BTW, wonder if the bongo player uses bong water
to shampoo with? Maybe shampooing is optional in his day's regimen..
The first pic is amazing, couldn't open it the first time I tried!
Thanks for sharing!
Bill

Great stag!
With the right lens the SD10 can really produce sharp pictures, thanks to the Foveon. Not using the Bayer Matrix has some advantages.
And I really love to see some rare lenses used at a DSLR. Thanks!

Yep, very sharp stag you have there. I didn't expected 'cause first I've seen the lens but then......
What distance was between you and stag? |

Great shot! Of course those aerial lenses have to be top of technology in order to pick details on the ground - it really shows. _________________ Orio, Administrator
