I want to buy a 200mm prime lens for my X-T20. I was convinced to choose a Pentax-M 200mm f/4 but then I found a Pentax-K 200mm f/4 at a good price. The K is bigger and heavier (sadly) but I have read that the optical quality is superior. Can you confirm this for me?
Am I right to buy the K? How much would you pay for it in good condition and with the original lens case?

Yes the K is sharper. It's the Takumar in a K-mount livery. Pentax compromised with the Pentax-m too keep it compact. For more serious tele work they had the the SMC Pentax-M* 300mm F4 which is a much better lens than the 200/4 and twice the weight. _________________ pentaxian |

Too big and expensive.
Do you think this hood is right?

It comes with a longer hood if still present. It's plastic. I like The metal Takumar version better. More like this https://www.amazon.it/TELEOBIETTIVO-telephoto-alluminio-teleobiettivi-compatibile/dp/B09TZ9TSXD On APS-C you could use even longer ones. _________________ pentaxian |

If you look for the Hood for the Tele-Takumar 300mm 1:6.3 You will have a really long one. Ofcourse it will make the lens even larger and heavier . _________________ pentaxian |

I had the K 200/4 and I found it surprisingly good. I personally rate it even slightly better than the Nikkor ai(s) 200/4 in terms of optics (pixel peeping). In terms of ergonomics I prefer the Nikkor though. |

In terms of size and weight I would have preferred the 200mm from the M series, but for a few dollars I got this and the Pentax 80-200mm (I don't like zoom lenses and this will be the only one I will own). If the optical quality of the K-series prime lens is better I won't have big regrets. _________________ I use Google Translate, sorry |
