Did they get this right?
Over-corrected spherical correction is desired?
Isn't it the other way round?

Pretty confusing use of "behind" and "in front of" (the plane-of-focus), but well described otherwise.

Which I also find somewhat strange. I have always thought that the Trioplan was an "over-corrected" lens.

Yes. That should be under-corrected SA.
