The Meritar is a triplet I think - or maybe a tessar type.
How well does it perform in the close-up image making?

I will find out later how it works out, I got the lens and tubes yesterday from an event (as well as a A Schacht 3.5/35 and a Pentax 2.8/2
It did focus pretty closely, but it was too late to setup a nice macro subject. I even have to clean the lenses. |

Tom, I looked it up, it is indeed a triplet:

Hopefully it can give some wild artifacts on out-of-focus objects |

I had to google it, but indeed
Made a quick snap of some thyme on my balcony. It's not the most practical setup for macro due to the very short focusing distance, but hey, it's fun!
Shot at f4 because I needed the light to keep the shutter speed fast enough. With a slightly shorter extension, I can imagine some funky close-ups with this lens.
