Hi,
Here are some shots of my new favorite lens. For $20 hard to complain about anything.
Images straight from the camera, from jpg.
At F8 a little soft in the corner, not really a problem for me.
100% center
A very nice and sharp macro mode @ 24mm
100%
For me this is a very usefull range for street photography
24mm
40mm
Xtra shots, I am sold, there is better but @ $20 ??? no sure, it is far usable, street best friend.
100% center
@ 5.6

Great shots, Willy. I'm really glad to see them. I bought a guy's Canon A-1 outfit a few years ago, and it came with this same lens. I recall him telling me that the lens was so good, he never took it off the camera. Well, only problem was the lens's rear mount was loose and when I went to tighten things up, I still had problems, so I set it aside, telling meself, that really a Sun 24-40 couldn't be all that great anyway. Heh. Well after looking at your shots, I now realize that this guy was actually telling me the truth.
I have the lens body sitting on my desk. Now I just need to figure out where I put the mount assembly so I can put it back together and give it a test run for myself. _________________ Michael

I think I have this in Soligor brand.
Needs a bit of work (haze, mount) before I can try it, but I should.
Sun often had decent-enough lenses, even zooms. I have a few quite good ones, for their time. _________________ I like Pentax DSLR's, Exaktas, M42 bodies of all kinds, strange and cheap Japanese lenses, and am dabbling in medium format/Speed Graphic work. |

I've got that SUN 80-240 - and it is bad, really lousy. But in its defence it is a very battered copy. _________________ LENSES & CAMERAS FOR SALE.....

Conclusion after many days shooting with it and hundreds of photos. It is a good performer (think $20)
Not so good for landscape but I can be wrong, I didn't test a lot for this purpose, I use it for street photography and for my eyes it is good enough.
Sure not perfect (think $20) some purple fringing, average corner sharpness, central sharpness OK, some weird tint sometime, but nothing nasty.
I like the balance in the hand, thumb up for the macro mode, It is very well built lens.
My last photos about this lens
Totally post processed, because you already saw images straight from the camera.

STRAIGHT FROM CAMERA
Well it is sharp
Take care of flare, use hood
Macro, nice
When Light is there, sharp again !
Dirty sensor
SO ON...
