Im still looking for a solution, I believe I need something really stable, maybe a little bit more heavy, but stable. No problem to buy, just cannot find what. Maybe I will choose the DIY way, while Im not a pro and the commercial look is my last concern. Please share your solution, anyone... Cheerz!

I went through the same thing during the eclipse and many tests beforehand. Tripod/head combinations that I thought were good failed when pointed up at the sky. My final solution was to tie my tripod down to a cooler with bungee cords. Astronomy buffs like wood tripods to dampen vibration. The one you show looks good but could be short for comfortable use. If you are doing moon shots or celestial events, then you also need a telescope style head. I have been looking at this:

Sometimes telescope tripods have different mounts for the head so be careful if you want to use a standard photo head with it.

If you're looking for a stable head arrangement with a large base, you might want to check out used Majestics. I have one that was probably made back in the 60s or 70s. Very stable, will handle large format easily. Only problem with mine is the legs are sort of short. It has a long center column and remains quite stable even when it's fully extended, but some folks might prefer longer legs.
Majectic prices can be all over the place, but many fall within the $100 to $150 price range. Here's mine with my Pentax 67 sitting on top:
Pete, that's an interesting looking mount. I've never seen one quite like it before. I prefer equatorial mounts for telescopes. Like this one:

Thanks! I will do shot portraits only. I believe using heavy lenses can be tricky because of they own weight - they look stable themselves, but any small vibration can easily be multiplied. Hidraulic head is a must probably. Ot used car shock-absorbers as part of the legs?!? _________________ 100% DIY homegrown amateur

I got a Manfrotto 058b second hand for £100. Its heavy & very sturdy, reaching up to my height without the central column or the third leg section!
I would think it would make an ideal studio tripod, even with a 4000mm lens on it I don't see any vibration.
Not very transportable though, it needs it's own Sherpa. |

Just bought on Ebay ZOMEI-VT666, weight 6kg / load 12kg with two handles and fluid head. Just to try something with such parameters, I know a branded model would be much better. Maybe with the projection things heavier will be needed. Will know soon.
