I'll be back to the swamp tomorrow to see if my favorite bird has taken flight from the nest. If so, I hope it was successful and I don't see any happy alligators.

I have found that time of day is important. If I wait until later in the day when the sun (very intense here in South Carolina) is at an angle, I get darker backgrounds. When the sun is high and bright, the backgrounds are more apparent and betray the lens with the donuts. The color is also difficult at high noon.

Loving this lens.

The nesting season is about over. I will be moving on to other subjects, hopefully. I have really enjoyed this lens and have improved on the focus keepers. I did finally start using a tripod, then a bigger one, then found that I did better with a monopod.

The nesting season has started. I've visited the swamp two weekends in a row and will be following with many more visits as the birds hatch and grow. Here's a pictures from yesterday. I've uploaded the larger file. And people say that mirrors aren't sharp :-/
