Very pleasing OOF areas, to my eye at least. And just what is this adorable little creature?

I should have said earlier - this is an Australian Rose Robin. We have lots of native robins here, but this one is quite rare and only appears around this time each year as it migrates south.
I was standing against the back wall of my home with camera and lens attached when the little robin appeared close to me. I only got two shots before it was gone again.

Very nice Tom, very fortuitous timing, I'd love to see larger size, even just a crop.

it's a delightful lens, a joy to use. Mine has the blue & yellow distance engraving making it about 57 years old, and I was very lucky to find this mint, cased and capped copy in a junk shop a few years ago, definitely one of my special lenses.

Ditto, very worthwhile and very small.

For some types of work technology has not advanced much. More complicated but not really better.

I love that lens! I have two of them for travel. (One is a backup in case of the apocalypse.)

I spun the lens on and dashed out in a gap in the rain to get a quick shot of the neighbours, the beautiful flock of rare breed Soay sheep that watch us through our kitchen windows.
Sony A6000 ISO 500. f4 unsharpened, just a bit of levels to brighten it up.

That's very impressive for the age of the lens(1957-61), thanks for posting crops Tom.
Cheers.

Thank you for that compliment Smile
It is so strange that as my eyes become more discriminatory in my image making, that they are also becoming less reliable and in need of assistance from optics.
All of my life I have valued my sight above all my other senses, and I think that I would die if I lost my ability to see.
My wife, who is a better photographer than I will ever be, has had to cope with a detached retina and several failed surgical operations which have given her partial sight in one eye.
She is an inspiration to me and also to members of my photographic club.
I am grateful for the sight that I have, and the opportunity to make images that photography provides.
A blessing for sure
Tom

You're welcome!

I know.... same here. Over the past 2 years my eyes have suddenly gone worse. I can't see anything on my screen nor read without glasses! Everything is a blur. So cameras without a viewfinder are useless for me, modern machines which only have a display on the back are a guarantee for bad shots, i simply can't see what's on it! And i do not need glasses for normal eyesight, so i often leave home without them.
