Didn't really expect much from this plastic lens, which I got for free. Looks like I was wrong....
Heres some pics (and matching 100% crops) from my first walk with it.
Taken on a fuji xpro (asp-c sensor) with some light postprocessing.
At f/2 the centre is already quite sharp and contrasty but the edges are quite smeary.
centre @ f/2
corner @ f/2
At f/5.6 everything sharpens up quite nicely.
centre @ f/5.6
corner @ f/5.6

The lens is performing well for you.
Certainly a surprise with its IQ.

Well - you got a bargain there, that's for sure. Sometimes we (i.e. me) can be too quick to assume that the "cheap plastic" lenses are going to be mediocre - this one's pretty good by any reasonable standard for real-world photography. I think it's to be found wearing different names - somewhere I have a 1990s Vivitar SLR camera with one on it. I should look for it and give it a try. _________________ Stephen

Here's the lens itself:
On the outside its actually made of metal, but it still feels cheap and very light at 160 Gramms. |

I don't think they're the same lens. Pentax made their own lenses, beside that there's far more differences between the two than similarities. |

focussing goes the wrong way around for Pentax. It's rendering reminds me of a earlier Cosinon 50mm F1.8 I have. (m42). _________________ pentaxian |
