Sharpness WO: Primotar 135mm f3.5 vs Trioplan 100mm

Hi,
which of the two lenses is in your opinion sharper WO? Is the difference, if any, noticeable to the naked eye?

Primotar is a sharper from what I remember from my comparison original image size, but has less pronunced soap bubbles.
The soap bubbles are made by spherical aberration, an image aberration. So the more spherical aberration, the more loss of sharpness.

No, I can not give you this information, don´t know if I tested it. Likely not.

I can't say anything about the Trioplan but the Primotar is not a very sharp lens. It's ok stopped down but you wouldn't want a lens like that for stopped down shooting and in any case you wouldn't use it in situations where absolute sharpness is very important. If it is of any help, I compared a few 135mm lenses on an aps-c crop digital camera a while ago:

The Trioplan is not sharp wide open but that's not what you get it for. It's the bubble bokeh.

Sharpness may probably go for Primotar in case of two comparable copies or they are tied. Trioplan is way more handy universal creative lens of great combination of mm, f and mfd, so grab one when you have that chance

On the other hand there is a guy named Valpi on Flickr. That one masters the Primotar, that guy's a new age Monet
