Bought this lens really cheap for about 7 dollars and are very pleased with the lens performance.
But my question is if anyone know how old it is and what does the red V stand for?

Thanks in advance

I would have that in bits by now, polishing away with talc and a toothbrush. $7,a bargain!

According to Hartmut Thiele's Fabrikationsbuch Meyer-Optik it is from 1957

I have the zebra version from (likely) a decade or so later its F2.8.

Yes it is gorgeous. I just love the well executed zebra look lenses from that era. Sort of the golden age of SLR prime lenses. After good multi coatings but before mass use of plastic. Just really nice articles of industrial art.
