I wanted to know whether I can use the fish-eye lens as a super-wide one or if I should rather look for the Tokina 17mm rectilinear lens.

IMHO not bad at all. At least I was able to get almost rid of the typical fish-eye effect which I don't really like. Therefore no need to buy a rectilinear lens.
For my Ricoh GXR-M APS-C camera I am fine with my CV 12mm ultra-wide lens anyway. _________________ Thomas Bernardy
