Are the 16 blade lenses a completely different lens to the common 44-2's ?

I don't really know David, it looks different than ordinary black 44-2. Positive click preset. It is a very nice lens to look @ and smooth as silk to operate and with short Helicoid makes for very nice 90ish mm macro very short and light to hand hold for Macro. Will post a pic tomorrow.Regards

16 blades? Even the first Helios-44 has only 13 blades.
Interesting to see yes, but I presume it's a DIY job.

probably the former (or maybe current) workers of the Kiev factory "Arsenal" modify lenses.

Seen this guy on ebay. A lot of his stuff looks very good. It is a DIY and he freely tells ye that. There are/were no 16 blade Helios 44s. That one looks like a Valdai 44-2 with the paint buffed off the aperture ring and focusing ring. iirc Vadai were the first tae use coloured lettering but just tae confuse things (as usual, in the FSU), KMZ and MMZ later followed suit. Ye can find out from the serial no.- usually. But the guy may have used good parts from several lenses.

Ah kryss, would that, that were so. If yer talking just Helios 44 f2..ye need all the M39 versions, 13 blade, 8 blade, with the red П, without the red П . Silver, black. Then the M42 versions. If yer talking Helios 44-2, then there's lots more versions and years of fun finding them. Laughing

Aye kryss,

that's Valdai factory (also known as JOV). Lens originally made 1975 (first two letters of the serial no). There's a huge thread on Helios lenses, on here, from years ago. Ye can search "Helios 44 ...getting closer " and it should pop up. Cool
