The Tamron 35-80mm 01A and Pentax F 35-70mm both with close focus are hard to beat, both provide excellent results in the right hands. Wink

Also the QZ-35M predecessor of 01A is also very good and not expensive.

I have the Takumar version, very heavy and the focus ring is way too smooth! But I am impressed nonetheless.I would like to dismantle and add some grease too the focus coil but have not been able to pluck up the courage.

I've just found a 59A, that looks exactly the same as the 059A on the left of the picture, in a box of stuff that I am trying to sell. It's a lens I got in a kit of stuff, it was broken and I've repaired it, and I don't think I tried it except to see if it worked. But I'll try it properly now!

I wasn't impressed at all. At 28mm this 59A is useless, no sharpness at all. There's some at 50mm and a bit more at 70mm, but the 17A just beats it hands down.

This picture is at 28mm ISO 1000, 1/160, f8. Focused on the building. Nothing is sharp. I won't even sell this lens, I'll just give it away with a camera or something. I might be a bad copy, I don't know?
