Hi, I want to remove the front element from this lens to remove excessive dust, I haven't owned a lens that's so prone to getting dust in it as this one, I want to sell the lens, but most people want to pay less if there's any dust inside.
I have stripped and serviced manual focus lenses so I am not totally inexperienced, however I can't see how to remove the decorative ring on the front, I have tried usual method of rubber cup but it won't move and I don't want to force it and do damage and Google searches haven't come up with anything.

I was hoping that some clever person on here could help.

Any help will be gratefully received.

John

Nowadays on many budget/consumer level lenses the name ring is just a thin piece of plastic held in place by adhesive. Look up videos of Canon 18-55 disassembly, see if your lens is the same.
