Thread in SAR:

What makes this lens interesting is they say it has almost no distortion. That is the reason why this lens is called ZERO-D.

For the convenience of the forum member, I have upload three RAW files to Google drive provide by the developer in the first link. The copyright of these photos belongs to the original owner who take these photos.

Looks like an interesting lens, but 12mm f/2.8 means a quite big lens?

PostPosted: Fri Feb 19, 2016 9:28 am    Post subject: Reply with quote

I think it will balance well on a SLR.

This lens can use the 100mm square filters which is nice as most the 14mm ultra-wide need bigger filters.

There will be an add-on adapter for E mount which change this lens to a 17mm F4 with 10mm shift ability(works for the SLR versions).

Thank you!
This lens looks good from the image results!
Is there a price estimation from the manufacturer?

PostPosted: Mon May 30, 2016 6:05 am    Post subject: Reply with quote

The price is not announced yet but it should be reasonable. The lens consists of 16 elements which two of them are large-diameter aspherical lenses and three ED lenses.

Photos of the lens show on exhibition:

If this 12 adjusts the price, turn about to a Rokinon/Distortion/Samyang killer. Promises no distortion, now I hope to see their sharpness. The focal length is fascinating, but very punctual use.

All modern and supposedly good lenses that are appearing on the market, seem to have a congenital disease, excess weight and size ... this is the way?

Happy shots!

Samyang/Rokinon have plenty of distortion correction Adobe profiles, so that's really not an issue. Price will definitely be the determining factor and their other lenses are relatives "meh" when it comes to price vs usefulness/features despite pretty good optics.

I'm personally still considering Sigma 12-24 II from the used market, and those go for ~600 but have AF, zoom range, very correctable distortion, but do lack utmost sharpness only at the 12-<14 end.

I think landscape photographer will prefer a lens with nearly no distortion rather one with complex distortion.

This lens is not large and heavy indeed. It is about the same weight as the Samyang 14mm and shorter in length.

Lets see more review when the lens is available for sale. Wink

Persoally for me this kind of tests aren t the determining factor, but for such a lens they have a value:
