Hi all,

I just got this CZJ Biotar 58/2, but the the red letter on the name ring seems to be mysterious to me. I know there are red T versions, but I never knew any with this "crossed out" T. Can someone explain what it is?
Hint: armless exa mount, 12 blades (if my eyes are sharp enough), preset aperture, min aperture 22, sn 3702923 (suggesting that it was made between 1952-1955).
Thank you!

From what I have read this is another artifact of the Jena/Oberkochen trademark wars. Some country decided that Zeiss Jena couldn't use the red T on lenses imported to it so the importer modified the T before putting the lens up for sale.

Yes, that's it.

This altered "T" is sometimes called "Flying kite"

One more question - I noticed a small amount fungus on the edge of the front element. Is it necessary to give my porn star a surgery (either at home or in hospital), or maybe I just try to sun dry it?

Why not? Best way would be deleting all signs of fungus so It can't more and more square of the lens.
You can try make it by yourself.
